When I heard about Club Fest I thought it was a great opportunity to get involved with Iowa State and the community. I didn’t really know what I wanted to join so I started by walking around and looking at different groups. After passing a few I signed up for Student Volunteer Services, Habitat for Humanity, MODA, and a girl scout mentor program because I figured I could see which ones I liked stick with them.
Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to go to any of the meetings for any of the clubs. However, I still receive updates from the leaders through email so I know what goes on in the meeting s and what projects they are doing.
In the future I plan to attend the meetings and participate in the volunteering activities. I really hope my schedule changes because I know the clubs offer great opportunities to meet new people and give back to the university and community.

It is hard to work around our schedules in order to join more clubs. It is hard to have enough time in the day to get things accomplished.
ReplyDeleteYeah I've also noticed how hard it is to keep up in class and do the things that I would rather do. Its tough working around certain things.
ReplyDeleteYeah it is pretty hard to get used to full schedules and having to miss things in order to attend more important events.
ReplyDeleteI know what you're going through. It's really unfortunate not to be able to be involved with things that you want to because of having so much to do.
ReplyDeleteHopefully your next semester schedule works out so you can attend some of those meetings. :) You would do great at the volunteer clubs for sure!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about finding time to go to the meetings, but hopefully at least one of those clubs works out for you! They all sound great.
ReplyDeleteI hear you there -I still have trouble fitting everything into a day... I always need like 10 more hours in a day to get everything accomplished... ha! Good luck with trying to fit one in -it's going to definitely help you to manage time better, at least that's what has happened to me with the clubs I am in.
ReplyDeletewe should be involved in habitat for humanity together. i think its easier to go to something if you don't have to go alone :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I definitely understand what you mean when you say you haven't found time to go to any of the meetings. I have found time for mine but I have an insane schedule for each day!
ReplyDeleteThose all sound like great groups, it is really crazy trying to fit everything in.
ReplyDeleteIt is good that you went and explored your options, hopefully you will be able to find a club that strikes enough interest to keep you involved. Extra Cirriculars are a great way to balance out the stress and demands of college life and I encourage you to get involved if you can
ReplyDeleteThis is how I feel about the clubs I joined. I've pretty much only been able to make it to the beginning meetings. Its hard, but I'm sure you'll pick a great club or two!
ReplyDeleteI understand what you are talking about. I have a hard time making it to each meeting. It hard when there are things going on in school and insode the dorms.
